Know how to fight off your debt problems in UK

Know how to fight off your debt problems with a Debt Relief Order in UK:

Do you think that it is a crime to be in debts? Never. Stop feeling humiliated. Instead of grimacing over your situation, don’t you think you need to find out a solution to pay off your arrears? For coming out of debt, you just need to accept them and go for a suitable debt solution.

Debt Relief Order or DRO is another debt solution in UK apart from IVA or Bankruptcy or even debt consolidation. This has been introduced for people who are running out of assets for making repayments. If you are a debtor with a debt amount of less than £15,000 and a gross asset of £300, you can opt for a DRO for writing off your debts. There are various eligibility factors for making a DRO application. First of all you will have to be debtor. You must be a citizen of England or Wales for making a DRO application. Or you must be carrying out a business for three years or more. Moreover you should not have a DRO in the last 6 years or be into any other insolvent measures such as IVA, Bankruptcy and others.

You will have to apply for a DRO online with the help of an approved intermediary in order to complete the form. Once you complete the form and pay the fee, an Official Receiver will prepare the order. In a DRO there is no involvement of the court.

Once your DRO application is granted, your creditors will stop pestering you and will no longer have the rights to take any legal action against you. But this applies only to those creditors who are included in the DRO list. If you are granted a DRO, your debts will be cleared within 12 months or 1 year. But if your financial status starts improving then you should make every attempt to repay your creditors.

While in a DRO, you will have a number of restrictions: Here they are:
·    You will not be allowed a credit £500 or more without informing your lender about your DRO.
·    You are not permitted to carry on a business in a different name after being granted a DRO without telling all those with whom they do business with under the previous name.
·    You cannot be a part of promotion, management or formation of any firm without the court’s permission.
